Congrats to Julie – New tech Job
Filed under: Business and Office, Education, Friends and/or Family, technology; Tagged as: job, network, technologyComments OffA big congratulations goes out to Julie who has landed a new tech job! She’s one of the top level network administrators for a research company that has offices in more than a dozen companies. Julie has really impresses me, I remember when she was talking about going to school to learn tech stuff, I had not thought she would go through with it.
But she has – she’ applied herself, done tons of homework and is continuing with school even though she has landed a top notch job already – good for you Julie!

I’ve been thinking about trying to get a job copy writing for a local Advertising Agency. I’ve taken lots of classes in marketing and writing and always got really good grades in those subjects. Writing is something that I’ve always enjoyed doing and through out my school years all of my teachers would tell me that I was a natural born writer.
I remember in high school there were two different English classes having to do with writing and grammar where the teacher would give a proficiency test on the first day of class to see what level of achievement all of the students had. The second day of class the teacher gave me a semester long library pass and told me that I did not need to be in her class that she was going to give me an A and for me to just go to the library every day and using it like a study hall!
Then when I was in college one of my professors used my term paper as an example of perfection to other students in following years. The paper was for a Sociology course, and the paper was about the Sociology of the American Baby Boomer women as mothers. I found out a couple of years after I took the course that he used it as an example when one of my neighbors came knocking on my front door, telling me that she was taking the course and asking me for a copy of the paper for her to use as a guide. I think it would be awesome if I could use that skill to make a little bit of extra income.

Getting a Pay Cut
Filed under: Business and Office, Entertainment and Fun, food, General Life, Money, technology; Tagged as: boss, changes, costs, debt, family, job, office, pay, spendingComments OffThanks to Lemuel Craft
Last month my boss announced to the office that we would all be getting a 10% pay cut across the board. I was already stretched to the limit financially, so I had to find a way to cut my costs. I am grateful that I still have a job, but I knew I was in trouble. I don’t make very much as it is, and every month I get deeper and deeper into credit card debt. My worst fear was that I would fall behind on bills and have to move back in with my mom and dad. I’ve been out on my own for over ten years now, so that would be a tough pill to swallow. The good thing is that cutting 10% wouldn’t be that difficult. I figured that I could do that by not eating out so many times each week and looking into my clear bundle pricing. Hopefully with these small changes I can make things work. I guess I’m just going to have to be more conscious of my spending if I don’t want to have to go back and live with mom and dad.
