Party invitations
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Entertainment and Fun, Friends and/or Family, General Life, technology; Tagged as: family, friends, Internet, partyNo CommentsCan you remember the last time that you received any party invitations in the mail? To be perfectly honest, most of my friends and family members rely on word-of-mouth and invitations by email or on our facebook events pages, or even a new Internet service that calls itself Evite.com or something like that. So when Teri told me that the reason Andrea never comes to any of our parties is because she never got any “official invitation” in the mail, I was completely astounded! Now let me tell you that if Andrea was an eighty-year-old lady that insisted on “proper Emily Post etiquette” I might, just maybe, understand the reasoning behind this “I didn’t come because I didn’t get an official invitation in the mail” excuse. But in this day and age? For adult family and friends? Really?
So Teri and I have decided that this summer we are going to have a big family and friend barbecue party and we will actually go ahead and make an official invitation to the party on our computer and print it out on card stock paper and mail it to Andrea by First Class, registered, with return receipt requested to Andrea. We will even include a postage paid return envelope with an RSVP card for her to fill out and mail back to us. We are going to make absolutely SURE that she gets the invitation. As soon as we get the confirmation back from the Post Office that she signed for it we are going to call her up on the telephone and make sure that it was really HER that signed for it and verify that she is aware of the party and that she is invited.
To be perfectly honest, I think that Andrea simply doesn’t WANT to come to any of the family gatherings. I think that maybe she suffers from some kind of Social Anxiety disorder and that the “I didn’t get an official invitation in the mail” excuse is just that – an excuse to not have to go out to a party and risk some kind of embarrassment. I’ll be curious to see what happens when she actually DOES get one in the mail!

First Time Home Buyer
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Investing, Money, Real Estate, Travel; Tagged as: family, home, Internet, mortgageComments OffLearning all that it takes about buying and financing a new home can be a real challenge to a first time home owner like my favorite niece who is now tackling that issue. She has saved up for sometime now in order to have a decent down payment on the perfect house when she finds it, and after 6 months of searching the search is still on. I have to say that I’m surprised that it is taking such a long time what with all the good deals out there on homes since all of the foreclosures that have been taking place since the economy went to pieces so many years ago. I guess she is just being very cautious, making certain that the one she chooses will have everything that she needs and wants, along with an affordable price tag attached to it.
For someone her age, 23, she has good credit, which is a big plus, so she will be able to hopefully get a decent interest rate. There is a lot of good information out there for people like her that are new to the whole mortgage game and I know that she is doing her homework and using the Internet to her advantage. Wish there was something that I could do to help her other than telling her of homes that I see around town that have For Sale signs in front of them. But I’m sure when she finds what she is looking for that I will be one of the first ones that she calls for help moving in since I have a pick up truck.

The Push To Be Green
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Environment and/or Green, Friends and/or Family, technology; Tagged as: environment, Internet, technology, web hostingComments OffI’m glad to hear that there is a major push for all kinds of ways to become “green” I understand that even some of the web hosting companies are doing their part in going green. That is a good thing since we all need to do what we can to help the situation that our one and only mother earth is now in.
I’m still learning so much about computers and am grateful that my kid brother knows so much about today’s computers and the World Wide Web, I’d be in deep trouble if not for him. He knows all about webhosting, colocation, dedicated servers and managed hosting issues that I know absolutely nothing about. I just wish he had more time to spend with me, but he is married with children and his time is precious as most people’s are these days.
So I’ll keep trudging along the best way that I can. With the good weather months coming up we are all going to be busier and busier each day.

Web Hosting Done Cheap
Filed under: Business and Office, In My Bookmarks, Money, technology; Tagged as: business, Internet, web hostingComments OffSome of the best web hosts on the Internet cost under $5 a month, and finding a list of those was one of the best things that happened to me this month. Any small business can profit from saving money on their web hosting sites and the price of under $5 a month is fantastic to me, I love saving money where I can. This provides me with a source I can use and a source I can pass on to friends and family.
Finding cheap web hosting can be tricky and it definitely takes someone with good technical knowledge and a lot of experience to be able to judge whether the web host is good or not. More often than not, it is the bad experiences from using cheap web hosting that eventually leads people to run out of patience in these low cost endeavors and move onto more expensive options. Check out what Ultrawebsitehosting.com has to offer with their LiteSpeed Technology hosting on 8-core Xeon with good dedicated servers with the most competitive pricing that I’ve seen lately.

Appropriate Laptop Storage Carts
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Money, shopping, technology; Tagged as: boss, business, co workers, Internet, laptops, storageComments OffNot sure how I got the chore of finding a better way for our laptop storage problems at the office. Our secretary is out on Maternity Leave and they have not found a replacement so a good amount of her chores and responsibilities are being handed out to various other employees, hence my task of finding laptop carts that would be appropriate for our needs as well as being in the tight budget that I was informed of.
Now I’m certainly not a laptop cart specialist but considering that we have the Internet to use as a valuable tool in order to gain the knowledge needed to find not only the perfect laptop cart but at the most affordable price available. It shouldn’t be too big of deal I suppose, guess it’s better than some of the other tasks that have been handed out recently. We will all be so grateful when the “new mother” gets back from her Maternity Leave, if she indeed does comes back. But that’s another subject.
