We get the Sunday newspaper delivered to our house every week.  We don’t want the daily paper; I read the news online, but we get the Sunday paper because of the TV guide and the coupons and special interest sections.  At least once a week the newspaper company calls me to try to get me to subscribe to their daily paper as well.  It is very annoying and I keep telling them to stop calling me – I tell them repeatedly to put me on their “do not call” list but the calls keep coming.  I think the next time they call me I am going to threaten to sue them for harassment.

I usually recycle the newspapers that we get.  We subscribe to the Sunday paper, in order to get the Television Guide and the sales fliers and coupons.  We’re usually too busy to actually READ the news, and end up throwing the newspapers away.  I was therefore very happy when my sister called today and asked us to save all of our newspapers to give to her because she is planning on burning a lot of wood in her fireplace this winter to reduce her energy bills and she needs the newspapers to help start the fires.  I was more than happy to agree to letting her take them all!  Saves me the trouble of having to take them to the recycling center!

I spent about a half hour this morning checking out the different weird news stories.  It’s a good way to spend a few minutes, reading about out-of-the-ordinary occurrences, like the guy who was trying to break open an ATM and ended up getting hurt and needed to go to the hospital, and about the guy who escaped from jail, only to return that same night to ask to be let back in, and about the priest who was arrested for jogging in the nude.  I think I’ll be checking out that site again – very interesting reading, and a good way to take a break from all of the “usual” news stuff like politics and the stock market and the economy and the war.

I’ve been reading conflicting reports on why drinking bottled water is a bad idea. Some reports say that if the bottled water gets too cold the plastic will leach toxic chemicals into the water, some say it will happen if it gets too hot. Besides the fact that all of these plastic bottles are causing havoc in our landfills, it may be a good idea to cut back on our relying on bottled water as much as we have been doing for the last decade or so.

I do so enjoy razzing my kid brother every chance that I get, I mean that is what big brothers do with their kid brothers right? Last weekend we all had a nice dinner at our parent’s house and the kidding and harassing didn’t take long to begin, but to be honest I wasn’t the only one, we all carry one with each other at these family functions.

My kid brother is a real sports buff and he has been talking a lot about this Melanie Collins who is this good looking blond Sports and Entertainment Host that is getting so popular here as of late. So of course I had to start in on him about his blond fetish that has been going on for as long as I can remember since he discovered the opposite sex years ago and telling some stories that I’m afraid he wasn’t so happy for some of the other family members to hear. I have to admit that she is a real good looking young woman and I can see why they would hire some one like her for all that she does for the sports fans. You can see for yourself, I took a few minutes and looked her up online and found some great pics of her to send to him.  LOL
