My view on the world, as seen from whatever vehicle I’m in!

I was reading an article on the Time.com website about how a lot of companies are participating in what is termed “Greenwashing.”  I had never heard of the term “Greenwashing” before, so I was curious and read the article.  It seems that “Greenwashing” is the term used to describe the action of promoting a product or service claiming that it is better for the environment than it really is.  The article included links to other articles that showed instances and examples of greenwashing by real companies.  I found the article to be informative, and have bookmarked the links for future reference.  It is disappointing to see how many companies are so shameless in their false promotions!

I like to read a news website called ananova.com, because it often has interesting and quirky stories that I can’t find on other news websites.  I was just reading a news story dated December 16 about a German Shepard dog in Arizona that had been trained to push the speed dial for 911 if his owner had a seizure had the opportunity to do just that recently, and saved his owner’s life.  The rescue people had been alerted that the dog was trained and if he called them to send out rescue, and that is what happened!  The dog saved the man’s life!  Isn’t that cool?

I found a story on the BBC’s website that linked to a video showing an airbag vest made in Japan that is designed to be worn by elderly people who have a tendency to fall backwards and hurt themselves. I was watching the video, and I’m not quite sure if I’m impressed or amused by it. It is a normal looking vest that deploys airbags when the person starts to fall backwards, so that when the person hits the ground they are cushioned by the airbags.

I really don’t know how many times elderly people fall backwards versus sideways or forwards, so I’m really not sure exactly how beneficial this would be to someone. But it is very interesting that a company is developing it, and I have to give them credit that they are trying to help elderly people from getting hurt when they fall down. I know that falling down is a major reason why elderly people break a hip, and it is really hard for them to heal from something like that.

Becoming an enrolled agent is something that I really didn’t see in the future for Tad, Teri’s youngest brother, who made his career change announcement during their family dinner and festivities last night. You see Tad has always been a free spirit in all aspects of his life, no one really knew what it was going to take to get him focused and willing to really put an effort into committing to much of anything in life. Even the various women that he has found himself in relationships with haven’t motivated him to do a whole heck of a lot, so we have been just biding our time, waiting it out.

He is going to have study his rear end off in order to pass the notorious enrolled agent examination that isn’t known for being the easiest examination to pass, but apparently he has found access on the Internet for the enrolled agent study guide that he can take advantage of to get him ready. I wish him luck, this just might be the thing that brings in to reality and it will be a plus to have someone in the family with this type of information that could be very beneficial for so many folks.

There seems to be a rash of mailbox bashing in the surrounding neighborhoods these past couple of weeks. It looks like some of the neighborhood kids are getting antsy while waiting for Christmas to come next month. We all know that residential mailboxes have always been and are a prime target for vandalism, even commercial mailboxes are not immune to this type of nonsense, says the newspaper articles that I’ve been reading as of late. As if we don’t have enough to worry about these days.

Mailboxes have always been an important necessity for most of us. Even though more and more business is being conducted online, the U.S. Postal Service still bears the brunt of deliveries and we rely on our mailboxes to keep our mail safe and secure. With identity theft on the increase, the need for quality mailboxes and mailbox posts are on the increase. Of course your mailbox should have your street numbers printed on it for any emergency personnel to be able to read, when needed. And I wouldn’t suggest putting your last name on it for security reasons that should be obvious to anyone, I’m just saying…
