Teri and I belong to a local business networking group that meets every Wednesday morning at the local Country Cooking restaurant. There are about forty regular members that attend the meeting. We all take a turn standing up and giving a sixty second introduction to ourselves and our business. And every week there is a featured speaker that takes ten minutes to talk about his or her business.

Today the featured speaker was a woman who says that her business is to make people “weller.” She says she is a self-taught practitioner, and she combines a variety of techniques like acupressure and meditation along with health supplements and health drinks like Trivita, Mona Vie, and Xango. She was very enthusiastic about her health drinks. She even had samples of some of the drinks that she passed around.

We didn’t try the drinks right then, they were in little pouches and little bottles and cans.  She suggested that we take them home and put them in the refrigerator for a couple of hours because they taste better cold.  I would be very interested in some of these healthy drinks if they taste good. I have tried a variety of health drinks and found many of them to be completely unpalatable.

I’m not a very good brother; I don’t keep in touch with my sisters very well at all. They send me emails (which I read) but I don’t often reply with more than a very short reply such as “good” or “too bad” or “OK.” It must drive them crazy! My older sister is the best one for keeping in touch, she tries to keep everyone in the family “in the know” about who’s doing what. Hmm…. maybe that classifies her as a gossip?

She tells me that she has been taking belly dancing classes in Winchester a couple of months ago. She was doing it with the goal of having fun and getting out of the house and getting some exercise. She’s always loved to dance, and hates “exercise” so when she found out about these classes she thought it would be a good way to force herself to exercise by having fun. After all, if the exercise is fun she is more likely to keep doing it!

Although the thought of her performing belly dancing routines is mildly amusing to me, she says she is having a ball, so I’m all for it! I hope she keeps it up as long as she can!
