I spent about a half hour this morning checking out the different weird news stories. It’s a good way to spend a few minutes, reading about out-of-the-ordinary occurrences, like the guy who was trying to break open an ATM and ended up getting hurt and needed to go to the hospital, and about the guy who escaped from jail, only to return that same night to ask to be let back in, and about the priest who was arrested for jogging in the nude. I think I’ll be checking out that site again – very interesting reading, and a good way to take a break from all of the “usual” news stuff like politics and the stock market and the economy and the war.

Free Grants and Scholarships Found Online
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Education, Health, Investing, Money, technology;Comments OffEven though the school year just recently started many students and their parents are looking for grants and financial aid information to get them through the year as well as getting a jump on next years tuitions, many for first time college kids. Back in my day you basically could only turn to your High School Guidance Counselor to find the information that we all can now find on the World Web Wide, a good amount of it for free. You can find grants for engineers, aviation, criminal justice, health care, education and all of the other occupations/professions that necessitate a college degree in order to land the job of your choice and study in today’s high tech world.
My 17 year old niece (My kid sister’s daughter) is all ready looking for some physical therapy student grants to start checking into for when she enters her first year at the local community college in 2012. So I’ve been doing some looking around myself and have been amazed at all of the help that there is out there with this task. Schoolscholarships.org is a good one that I’m sending her and her mom the link to tonight. She is a good kid and I’m very confident in that she will work hard in school and eventually make one heck of physical therapist that will do so much good for so many people in so many ways. Just like her mother has.

I have always admired and appreciated the drum. Once in a while some one will send me a link to a good quality video from YouTube like they did with this one. It’s a long one but worth the time it takes to kick back to watch and listen and to enjoy.

So Many Choices In Moving
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Health, Home and Garden, Money, shopping, technology, Travel;Comments OffIn talking on the phone last night with my old buddy Roger, who just recently relocated all the way to Wisconsin, to help out with his aging parents with all of their health and financial issues. It really makes me count my blessings that both of my parents are still in relatively good health as well as the fact that I come from a fairly large family so there is a lot of us that will be available to help them out when things start deteriorating. Roger on the other hand is an only child.
It also makes me stop and think and realize how lucky I am in the fact that I have not had to pick up and move in a very long time. Moving is so much work, mentally, emotionally and of course physically, no ifs, ands or buts about that right? There are many options and so many decisions to make that are important decisions, ones that you might be stuck dealing with for a good long time. Like what type of internet service is available, like if it is dial up or dsl that you sign up with. Or which phone company for your home and/or cell phone needs and wants. Then there is always the issue of going with cable or satellite. Then you have figure out which plan or package, it’s never ending. Most of the issues require the signing of a contract between one to three years, so making an informed decision can really make or break you.

This morning I threw a load of towels and blue jeans in the washing machine and got it running. A few minutes later I was walking in the kitchen in my bare feet and realized that the floor was very wet! The washing machine hose was not dumping water into the drain as it is supposed to be doing, but it was dumping water internally onto the floor. Not a good way to start the day…
