I’m not all that much into Conan and I wasn’t too surprised or upset that he didn’t last long on The Tonight Show. He has never been good at entertaining me in the late hours of the night and I don’t think he would do any better in the day time. But he is making a comeback on TBS and we will see what he can there. For now he is doing all kinds of wild, crazy and wacky commercials and promos that are making the headlines.

It will be interesting to see what his new show is all about. I don’t know much about what to expect, but will find out in a few weeks from what I understand. In the mean time you can get all kinds of videos of Conan all over the Internet, but I prefer YouTube.com.

A couple years ago, right before Thanksgiving, we wanted to have a little get-away for the weekend. I found a quaint little hotel on the Maine coast line and booked a room for two nights.  It had a wonderful view of the ocean and a tiny little fireplace with gas logs. I thought it was perfect for a romantic weekend – until we wanted to light the fireplace.

I looked all over the room and the fireplace for instructions on lighting the fireplace gas logs. Never had to light vented gas logs before and I had no idea what I was doing. While I’m trying to figure out what to do, my girlfriend got busy staging the room with candles and wine glasses and setting up her version of the romantic weekend.

Well, I had to call the front desk and ask them to send someone to show me what to do with the gas logs. Just as he was coming in the door, my girlfriend picked that same moment to make an entrance from the bathroom in a very skimpy, red negligee.

She was embarrassed, I was embarrassed for her, and the maintenance guy was absolutely stunned. I give him credit for a quick recovery. He took off his cap and nodded at her, then smiled and said, “Well ma’am, you didn’t have to dress up just for me!”

We all burst into laughter, she ducked back into the bathroom and that maintenance man lit those gas logs and got out of that room in record time. So now, when I look at the R. H. Peterson Real Fyre Gas Logs ads, all I can think about is the romantic night on the coast, and the look on everyone’s face with the bad timing for her negligee entrance. And it sure would have been a different evening if that maintenance man didn’t have a sense of humor to make us laugh ourselves out of an embarrassing moment.

On Yahoo you can read the whole story of this walk off that occurred on the “View” by Whoppie Goldberg and Joy Behar while having a discussion with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly concerning the building of a community center and mosque built in Lower Manhattan.

And thanks to YouTube for bringing us the video that allows you to cut and paste and embed the video on blogs such as mine.

I have been pretty lucky when it comes to my credit card debt. I wish I could say that I was debt free, but I can’t at this point, but I’m steady working on it each month. I have really tightening my belt this past year and have been cutting out a lot of unnecessary costs out of life, nothing major, but a few things here and there and it has been making a difference. On of the strategies that I’ve been using is not eating out as much. This has been a tough one, I don’t like cooking and am always on the run and I enjoy fast food and dining at nice restaurants on occasion as well, but you do what you gotta do and suck it up, right? I even joined Netflix and have been watching a lot of good videos for a much smaller costs than renting them at Block Busters.

The Internet is full of ideas to take advantage of on ways to cut back in these tough economic times, some of them are hard, some are pretty easy, but they are worth the time to read them when you run across them. Our credit scores are very important to each and every one of us, a lot rides on your credit score and it is a real pain in the rear when things start going crazy, so it is best to try and keep up with what is going on by using offers by places like FreeScore.com. I know too many people that have found themselves in deep doo doo because of credit issues, it takes time and effort and a lot of energy to fix a credit score screw up so it is best to be as pro active as possible.

My sister has been addicted to chap stick for many years now. She always has a tube tucked away in various places around her house, vehicle and purse. When she can’t find a tube, you don’t want to be any where around her until she gets one in her hand and on her lips.

In reading my monthly Reader’s Digest” there was an article “Are You Normal or Nuts” stating that everyone has habits that annoy other people, that are called “nutty quirks” that are shared by numerous other people, whether it’s an addiction to lip balm (yes, there’s a Lip Balm Anonymous) or peladopobia (fear of bald people). And that there is a difference between wacky and worrisome.

It was an interesting article, if you find the May 2010 issue you will find this entertaining and education article. You can probably find in online actually. I think that I will check and see if I can find it online and send the link to my sister to read!
