Over the past several months Teri and I have been discussing purchasing more life insurance.  This was inspired by the unexpected passing of one of Teri’s friend’s who left his family completely without any kind of financial security.  He kept saying that he didn’t need insurance because he was never going to die!  Well, he didn’t look like an ostrich, but he sure was acting like one!

One of the things that have worried us is how, in this economy, can one justify spending the money on something like that?  Well, Teri says, how can we NOT justify spending the money on it?  She thinks that we should be looking at term insurance, not whole life.  She was using an online life insurance needs estimator to get online term insurance quotes for the both of us.

The whole concept of term insurance is that it pays if you pass away during the “productive” years of your life, when your family needs your income the most.  Since it is only for a short period of time, say for ten or twenty years, the premiums stay low.  With whole life, the payoff happens no matter what your age, no matter how productive you were.  Although it is nice to think of leaving a lot of money for your loved ones, hopefully if you die of old age, your loved ones shouldn’t need a lot of money because hopefully they are self-sufficient at that point.  I told Teri to try and find some Online affordable term life insurance and we’ll take a look at it, and see if we can fit it into our budget.  I think it’s a good idea.

Don’t know if you are a fan of Daylight Savings Time or not, but tonight is the night to set your clocks ahead an hour. We will have an extra hour of daylight in exchange for an hour of sleep. Not sure that is a bargain, but not like we have much choice, either. So here we go with the “Spring Forward” part of Daylight Savings.

My aunt has asked me to help her price shop for Connecticut insurance on her vacation home.  She’s easily confused by the Internet, so I offered to help her with some research on that topic to try to help her save some money.  I like websites like netquote.com that will help the consumer to do some comparison shopping between companies.  Being able to compare policies online is a great convenience.  I like doing things online – things get done at MY convenience and I don’t have to leave my own home to get things done!  Just fill out a few blanks, press submit and you are off and running!

You Tube is full of wonderful videos of our soldiers dancing over in Iraq. This particular one really impresses me and I thought that I’d share it here on my blog. Like I said there is a good amount of videos on You Tube, if you like this one you should check it some of the others as well.

The good lord has provided us with a few nice weather days as of late. Today it will hit the 60 degree mark! It is so nice not to have to bundle up with coats, hats, gloves, scarfs, etc. This morning I only had to dash out the door, hop in my car (not having to wait for it to warm up so that the heater will work it’s magic) and head on in to work. Gotta love it!
