Teri’s sister Libby just announced that she is expecting her first child. She is due in September! Teri’s parents are very excited about it, this will be their first grandchild. Naturally Teri is going to be helping Libby with all of the research and shopping for all of the baby things she is going to need. Libby came over last night and sat down with Teri and they started making up lists of the baby products that they are going to want to get for the new little munchkin.
It’s amazing how much “stuff” a baby needs! From cribs and strollers to clothes and diapers. Not to mention a ton of baby toys!
I’m sure glad that they are making full use of the Internet to look up these things! It sure is saving them a lot of time and energy. It will be interesting to see how the family deals with the arrival of the next generation!

This morning I was watching an episode of “Angel” and I was reminded of my favorite episode where Numfar does the dance of shame, the dance of joy, and the dance of honor. I wanted to find a clip of it on the Internet. I couldn’t believe that I can’t seem to find it! Every lead I found said that the clip was removed due to Fox’s copyright. That was a big disappointment! However, while researching the clip, I discovered something that I had not known before; the show’s producer was the actor playing the part of Numfar! That makes the dance even funnier! I wish I could share the clip with you!

Birthdays
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Entertainment and Fun, Friends and/or Family, Shopping, Technology;Comments OffWith the coming of spring comes a long list of family birthdays. I don’t know what’s up with that, but I can tell you that it makes it a challenge keeping up with all of the events that always take place in celebration of the birthdays. Most of the parties are held outside, so we can only pray that the weather cooperates with as many as it can.
I have one nephew who will be turning 7 this year and they are planning to have a huge party come May 15th. They have a clown lined up along with a Moon Bounce and even a DJ has been hired to entertain all of the other guests as well. My sister has even purchased some pretty cool and interesting Musical Instruments for the guests to join in and play at some point. She has ordered Cymbals, Flutes and Trumpets over the Internet and all ready has access to some Drum Sets and Clarinets if needed. Sounds like it will be an interested shindig. Since we have a very musical oriented family I’m sure some pretty wild music will be heard that day.

The weatherman is full of promises of a wonderful weather weekend. We should even hit the 80′s by the time it’s all over and done with. I can tell you that I’m more than ready for that. There is a lot to be done outside around the yard and all, but I think I’ll put that all off for now and just enjoy the nice weather.

Save money and the planet
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Education, Environment and/or Green, General Life, Home and Garden, Money;Comments OffOne of the things I’ve always been interested in is how to save money, and the planet. Conservation has always piqued my interest – from natural resources to wildlife. I admit it, I’m a tree hugger! So it is no surprise that I am always looking for ways to cut down on the cost of home energy.
Ever since I heard about compact fluorescent bulbs and how they conserve electricity I’ve been replacing the incandescent bulbs with the compact fluorescent bulbs. I was sure that the Energy saving would offset the initial expense of buying the bulbs themselves. After all, they are expensive to purchase! And they are supposed to last longer than incandescent bulbs (although I find myself having to replace the bathroom vanity bulbs more frequently, which annoys me to no end!)
And when we moved into this house, we replaced all of the home appliances. Although I’d like to say that energy efficiency was the motive there, it was simply a case of the fact that the appliances were all broken and we needed new ones! But we made sure to buy Energy star appliances. After all, they save money in the long run!
So I was more than willing to sign up for an account with a new website I’d heard about – the microsoft-hohm.com site. I was expecting to find more ways to save energy and money. It took a few minutes to answer all of the questions, to create my profile. I found it annoying that it kept saying that my profile was incomplete, yet it did not give me any way to complete it! However, based on the information provided, I felt that the site gave some good tips on saving energy, and even though I’ve already done all of the tips, I suspect that most people have not gone to the extremes that we have gone to.
I did not see anywhere that they were trying to get me to pay any money for anything, they did not seem to be trying to sell me anything. I suspect that signing up for an account with them will probably put me on some junk mail lists, either by email or snail mail. That’s probably their angle, to make money off of selling our information. If I find myself the target of a lot of that kind of activity, I’ll have to try to figure out a way to get that stopped.
