    Sometimes I think that so many people get caught up in the time saving features of using the Internet for their shopping, that they overlook the importance of supporting local businesses.  It is surprising to find out that many local people don’t even know what local restaurants and businesses there are in their towns!  Even though I do buy a lot of things over the Internet, I also try to support the local economy as much as possible.

    That’s why I appreciate the local.com website.  It acts like a local yellowpages.  With just a few keystrokes and clicks I can do a local search to help me find what I need using the local stores and businesses.  After all, if we don’t support the local businesses, no one will have a job and we’ll all starve to death!  The job you save may be your own!  So if I can buy something close to home, I will make the effort to do so.

    Yummy snack food

    Filed under: Food;

    It’s been a very long time since I’ve eaten “Fiddle Faddle.” Today on a spur of the moment urge I decided to buy a box. It was on sale for 50% off at the store I was in and I was in the mood for some junk food. So I bought a box and opened it up. Tasted like Cracker Jacks, but there wasn’t any prize! Just as well, those little prizes never were worth a darn anyway! Anyway, I had forgotten how good it was! I’m afraid to look at the nutritional information – probably a heart attack waiting to happen!

    Teri has been talking about putting up some screens in the basement to partition off a part of it to create an exercise room.  She has been on a “let’s exercise more” kick since New Years.  Yeah, it’s one of her resolutions.  Neither one of us needs to lose any weight, but she has decided that we don’t exercise enough.  I agreed to give it a try, as long as we had a television down there to watch while we were exercising.So we have spent several hours moving things around in the basement to make room for the equipment.   So now we are in the process of picking out some carpeting and screens to make the place a little bit nicer.  There is nothing enticing about bare concrete walls and floors!

    I’m sure that once we get the samsung lcd tv, the Reebok exercise ball, the Proform elliptical, the treadmill, and the room divider screens up, the carpet down, and a small refrigerator down there (for cold water) it will look like a respectable exercise room.  I just hope she (we) stick to it.  I hate to waste the time, effort, and money to set up something that won’t get used!  I do know one thing, though, we won’t be able to use the excuse that we don’t feel like going out to the gym because of bad weather!

    I’m usually up to trying different restaurants. Especially all-you-can-eat buffets! No, I’m not even remotely obese; I’m not the kind of guy who strikes fear in the heart of buffet managers! It’s just that if I go to a new restaurant that is a buffet, then I get the chance to sample a wide variety of foods that I might not otherwise order. After all, who wants to order a large plate of something that they’ve never heard of and might be something not to the diner’s tastes preferences?

    I do have to admit, however, that even though I try to keep an open mind and try new foods, I still like my good ol’ American style steak and potatoes the best! Yes, with a big salad and some broccoli.

    I can remember the summer that I decided to take a college math course.  I was in a big hurry to finish up my college degree, and the local college was finally offering the statistics course that I needed to take during a time frame that I could actually take it!  Little did I know that I’d be dedicating my entire summer to that course!  Every waking minute was studying statistics! I sure could have used some statistics help back then!

    The only place that I could get free statistics help back then was to go to the University itself and sign up for a statistics tutor. That was all well and good, but it was almost impossible to find a mutually agreeable time to meet the tutor and get to work!

    The kids in school now have it a lot easier; with the Internet at their fingertips they can use the Internet to get all the math help they need for free at the tutorvista.com website! I sure wish that site was available when I needed it!
