Applying for credit
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Education, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Money, Shopping, Technology;Comments OffMy youngest cousin Jon is in his senior year of college. He is looking towards what he is going to be doing after this springs graduation. He has been granted a two-year fellowship with a company in Boston, or an open-ended consulting job in London. He is leaning towards the job in London, and I don’t blame him one single bit! If I had an opportunity like that I’d be jumping at it!
As part of his life planning, his mother has been coaching him to start thinking about getting his own credit cards before leaving college. Up until now he has simply been using cards his mother provided. Although they had his name on the cards themselves, the bills were in her name, and she made sure the bills were paid. But if he going to be heading off on his own next year, he needs to start building his own credit.
There is a website that I’ve found that I’m going to tell Jon to look up to apply for a credit card. This website has a lot of information about many different credit card companies that offer credit cards instant decision services. So he can compare the different cards and apply for one online and get an instant decision about his application. I would imagine he would like knowing immediately if he’s approved or not, don’t you?
