Yesterday Teri was getting dressed to go to dance class and she pulled on a black tank top. I noticed that she had white deodorant streaks around the armpits and told her about it so she could wash them off with a wash cloth before she left the house. I could not believe how upset she was when I pointed them out to her! She picked up the container of Mitchum anti-perspirant and read the back of the container. It clearly stated that it would NOT leave any white residue on clothes, yet the proof was right there on her shirt – white residue WAS there.

She was upset because she has had a hard time finding an antiperspirant that actually works, and she thought that she had found the perfect product. That’s really a shame. I don’t know what product she will try to use next. Someone should tell the Mitchum company that their product does NOT do what it claims to do! Maybe I’ll encourage Teri to give them a call or send them an email!

Do you remember all of those commercials years ago where an elderly lady has fallen down and is hollering “Help!  I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!”  That was a great ad for a service for people who wanted to be able to press a button to call for help when they need it.  Since then, the technology has advanced to the point where Life Alert systems have fall detection built right in so that when the client falls the Life Alert system knows that the client has fallen and calls for help without waiting to receive a panic button activation from the clients themselves.

I think that the advancement of Life Alert systems is terrific!  In addition to fall detection, it can monitor for movement so if the client is immobile for too long, the alarm is triggered as well.  That way if someone has passed out, emergency services can respond quicker and the client is more likely to get medical attention that can be life-saving.  It will be very interesting to see how much this type of technology will advance by the time I’ve reached my senior years!

My father is a member of the local Elks lodge. This is a small group, and because it is so small they cannot afford to buy a building for their monthly meetings and functions. They have been renting a room from the local American Legion. I thought that they were getting the room “gratis” because the club does a lot of charitable work that benefits veterans. So I was surprised when my father told me that the American Legion wanted to increase the rental rate of the room to a huge amount that they can’t afford and now have to find some other place to meet. I told him that I’d try to help him find a place where they could meet for free. So it will be interesting to see what I can come up with!
