In this “new economy” of ours, I think that having and using a prepaid visa mastercard in lieu of credit cards makes a lot of sense.  Your money is safe from being stolen or lost, and it is impossible to get too far into debt using them because there is no credit line available; once you’ve spent all of the money on the card, you can’t use it anymore until you’ve reloaded the card with more money.  And it sure is a lot more convenient than having to count out exact change if you’ve decided to go “all cash!”  With a debit card you don’t have to take the time to write out a paper check, and you don’t have the hassle of having to prove your ID either!
