Can you fix your credit?
Filed under: General Life, Money;Comments OffIf you have bad credit and find yourself not being able to get the loans that you want to get, you may find yourself in need of credit repair. Being able to fix your credit is possible if you understand how to do it. There are companies like Ovation Credit that will help you with that process if you feel overwhelmed by it all.
Sometimes having bad credit is a result of erroneous reporting at the credit bureaus, and that is an easy thing to fix if you know how. What’s NOT so easy to fix is fixing your credit if it is a result of you not paying your bills! But you really should check your credit reports for accuracy. Three years ago I checked my credit report and found a lot of mistakes on it – there were other people’s debts on there that were clearly not mine!

A couple of months ago a new grocery store opened in town – a Harris Teeter store. I haven’t had the chance, or perhaps I should say need to go there until today. It seems that the other stores in town have stopped stocking a few of my favorite brands of food items, so I decided to go to the Harris Teeter store and see if they carry the items.
Tops on my list is Reese’s Peanut butter. My favorite! Up until recently our Wal-Mart carried it, but they haven’t had it for over a month now. So today I looked at Harris Teeter, and was shocked at how small and puny their peanut butter and jelly section is! And no, they don’t carry Reese’s peanut butter. I wonder if this is an indication of elitism on their part, not having a big selection of peanut butters and jellies!

Yesterday Teri was getting dressed to go to dance class and she pulled on a black tank top. I noticed that she had white deodorant streaks around the armpits and told her about it so she could wash them off with a wash cloth before she left the house. I could not believe how upset she was when I pointed them out to her! She picked up the container of Mitchum anti-perspirant and read the back of the container. It clearly stated that it would NOT leave any white residue on clothes, yet the proof was right there on her shirt – white residue WAS there.
She was upset because she has had a hard time finding an antiperspirant that actually works, and she thought that she had found the perfect product. That’s really a shame. I don’t know what product she will try to use next. Someone should tell the Mitchum company that their product does NOT do what it claims to do! Maybe I’ll encourage Teri to give them a call or send them an email!

Do you remember all of those commercials years ago where an elderly lady has fallen down and is hollering “Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” That was a great ad for a service for people who wanted to be able to press a button to call for help when they need it. Since then, the technology has advanced to the point where Life Alert systems have fall detection built right in so that when the client falls the Life Alert system knows that the client has fallen and calls for help without waiting to receive a panic button activation from the clients themselves.
I think that the advancement of Life Alert systems is terrific! In addition to fall detection, it can monitor for movement so if the client is immobile for too long, the alarm is triggered as well. That way if someone has passed out, emergency services can respond quicker and the client is more likely to get medical attention that can be life-saving. It will be very interesting to see how much this type of technology will advance by the time I’ve reached my senior years!

Local conference rooms
Filed under: Friends and/or Family, General Life;Comments OffMy father is a member of the local Elks lodge. This is a small group, and because it is so small they cannot afford to buy a building for their monthly meetings and functions. They have been renting a room from the local American Legion. I thought that they were getting the room “gratis” because the club does a lot of charitable work that benefits veterans. So I was surprised when my father told me that the American Legion wanted to increase the rental rate of the room to a huge amount that they can’t afford and now have to find some other place to meet. I told him that I’d try to help him find a place where they could meet for free. So it will be interesting to see what I can come up with!
