Credit repair seems to be the up and coming business lately.  I don’t seem to be able to watch any television show without seeing commercials pounding the message to the audience that they need to use their service to find and improve credit scores.  A lot of commercials try to convince the viewer that with a bad credit score you won’t even be able to land a job!

So obviously clean credit is very desirable.  However, I’ve heard from a lot of different sources that having bad credit will only effect your ability to get SOME jobs.  And only if that bad credit is because the debtor has not paid off government subsidized student loans.  So I think that these commercials are preying on the audience’s ignorance of what can actually happen to a person with bad credit.

Unfortunately, people with bad credit do find themselves paying higher interest rates because they are a higher risk.  What is so sad about that is the fact that these are the people who need lower rates to help them to get their finances in order!  I feel that the entire credit industry is upside down on this one!

Brett wanted me to go to the Lion’s Club car show with him today. It was scheduled to be held at the local county fairgrounds. Well, it had been a while since I’ve been to a car show, and Brett’s son Justin had his truck entered in the show. So I met Brett at the diner and we drove together to the car show. I have to say that I was looking forward to going to the show. I was disappointed when we got there and found only one truck there! It was rained out for sure!

It’s been quite a few years since I did any Stock Trading the “old fashioned way” with a stock broker.  I got tired of playing “telephone tag” and having to place orders to buy or sell and then wait until the next day to find out what my costs/income ended up being.  And paying his commission fees just aggravated the heck out of me!  With Online Trading I pay lower commission fees and the transactions are done much quicker.

Switching to an Online Broker is probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made when it comes to investing in the stock market.  I like being able to go online 24/7  to place my orders.  And I don’t ever have to worry about my broker going on vacation or calling in sick!  My broker is ALWAYS there!  I also like how easy it is to get good and relevant information about the companies that I am interested in investing my money in.

I’ve always known that bananas ripen quickly, but what happened this morning was crazy!  I went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of bananas that were still under-ripe a little bit.  No brown or black spots at all, just light yellow and tinges of green.  An hour later when I unpacked them from the grocery store that bunch of bananas was over-ripe.  One of the bananas was crushed, the skin broken and brown liquid was oozing out of  it!  I have NEVER seen anything like that before!  It is hard to believe that is the same bunch of bananas that I picked up off of the grocery display!

I have been really surprised to learn how many people run businesses without any kind of business insurance.  Insurance is so important; especially in the litigious society we live in!  Everyone makes mistakes, and mistakes lead to lawsuits, which can ruin lives.  Unfortunately I am personal friends with more than one person who ended up having to file for bankruptcy because one of their employees had made a mistake, or had an accident and my friends were sued for damages.

One of the things people tend to overlook is buying van insurance for their commercial delivery vans.  It is so important to make sure that these vans are fully covered.  It only takes a moment for an accident to happen, and many times the accident occurs because the driver is trying to avoid a collision with something else – perhaps an animal running across the road or a young child’s toy appears out of nowhere!  Or someone riding a bike suddenly swerves into the middle of the lane instead of keeping to the side.
