A few years ago I was noticing that people were starting to wear fewer watches than before.  I was talking about that with a local jeweler when I took one of Teri’s watches into the store to have the battery replaced.  The jeweler was trying to entice me to buy one of their high-end tag heuer watches.  I told the jeweler that I wasn’t inclined to buy high-end watches right now, I’d rather have an assortment of watches to mix and match with my outfits and didn’t want to blow my entire budget on just one watch!  I have to admit, though that there ARE a lot of really nice watches for sale, and they make great gifts.  But before I would buy any new watch I’d check the prices at bluedial.com to see if I am getting a good price or not!

A good friend of Teri’s asked us to dog sit her little Maltese “Kissy” while she went on vacation this week. Of course, Teri is a dog lover, so she said yes! Well the poor thing is flea-ridden! We’re not sure what is the best, safest flea treatment for this little critter, and we aren’t sure what to do to keep the fleas from taking over our house! Kissy has some absesses and hot spots from the fleas, so Teri is going to take her to the vet tomorrow to see what needs to be done to fix her up and find out what we can do to keep the house from being over run at the same time. In the meantime, it is really sad to see the poor little thing be so uncomfortable with the sores and the scratching. I hope it won’t be a major ordeal to treat the house and the dog!

A few years ago one of my friends asked Teri and I to house-swap with him for a cheap vacation option. His house was a very nice, old house; full of character. We readily agreed to the swap. He warned us that the house was haunted, but we just laughed at him. We didn’t believe in ghosts!

The first night we slept there we made sure that the house was locked up tight. We turned the thermostat down to a nice, comfortable 68 degrees (good sleeping temperature, and it was winter after all, so we wanted to save energy.) We woke up about 1am, sweating like we were in a sauna! I went to look at the thermostat and it had been turned up to the highest it could go! I kow Teri didn’t do that because she is the one who likes to sleep in a cool room!

    That was really freaky!

Teri bought the book “The Birthing House” by Christopher Ransom last week. She said that I could read it when she is done with it. She knows I love a good horror story! I’ve found an excerpt of the book online for chapter 1 and 2 and read them. It’s going to be hard to wait for Teri to finish reading it!

Yesterday we saw some new neighbors move in across the street.  Teri and I went over with a pan of freshly baked brownies to welcome them to the neighborhood.  We told them that if they needed any advice about what to see and do, or who to go to for things like Satellite TV Providers and cell phone companies, garbage collectors etc.  You know, the whole nine yards type of thing.  Their names are Jack and Susan, and we found out that they are nurses that have just moved from New York to work in the local hospital.

They seemed to be a very nice couple and they thanked us for the brownies.  They invited us in to share them with a nice tall cold glass of milk.  We got to know their two dogs while we were there; very cute Jack Russel Terriers.   Jack did ask us about whether Direct TV Satellite was the best option for television services in this neighborhood.  He said that he wanted Direct TV for a long time and could not get it where he used to live because of covenants against the antennas in his neighborhood.

I told him that he shouldn’t have any problems at all with that; there are no covenants against antennas in our neighborhood.  He was really glad to hear that and said he’ll be ordering his television service tomorrow morning!

My sister gave me a Dairy Queen gift card last month for my birthday.  Today Teri and I were driving past a Dairy Queen and we decided to swing in and buy some Dilly Bars and eat lunch.  So we placed the order and I presented the gift card to the cashier to pay for the purchase.  Imagine my surprise when they told me that they don’t accept gift cards at their store!  I couldn’t believe it!  Needless to say we were quite upset and we put the Dilly Bars back in the freezer and simply paid for our lunch.  I guess I’ll have to go online and find another Dairy Queen and ask them if they accept the gift cards!
