It’s everywhere
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Education, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Money; No CommentsThe huge number of underemployed people in the job market makes me wonder why so many people are being encouraged to go back to college to get more educated – we already have an oversaturation of over-educated people out there! It’s especially tough to pay back college loans when you can’t get any job at all because the employers say that you are “over qualified” let alone getting one that takes advantage of that college education! For many people, I think that going back to college is simply going to increase their debt load, not resolve it.
You may be wondering what is bringing on this rant. Well, my Aunt Lizzy is in this exact situation right now. She has a college education – a bachelor’s degree in business administration and the only job she can get is a part time job as a school bus driver. She has been told over and over again that she is over-qualified. And now she is asking me for help with her debt problems because she can’t survive on just that pay.
So I was browsing the Internet earlier, looking to learn about debt management in England, I found the Abacus Debt Management website. It is very informative about different debt management options in the United Kingdom. I’m going to be using it to help Aunt Lizzy as much as I can.

We’re in the same boat
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Education, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Money; No CommentsI’m sure you’ve heard the adage “Misery loves company.” Well then cheer up! The economic crisis is not solely owned by the USA! It seems to be almost everywhere. Well, maybe not so much in those oil-rich Saudi countries, but just about everywhere else! And yes, I know there are pockets of wealth in almost every country…. The other adage “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer” also seems to be on hyperdrive right now!

Everybody loves a party!
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Entertainment and Fun, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Shopping; No CommentsOne of the things that people seem to be doing more of lately is throwing parties. Almost any excuse for a party! I guess it’s one of the ways they (we) are making up for trying to cut back on other expenses. So many parties are set up where everyone brings food to share so that no one person has to foot the entire tab. Then we all get together and have a great time. One of the ways that some of the hosts and hostesses make the parties more fun is by having a theme, such as a Hawaiian luau or a Super Bowl Party or St. Patrick’s party.
The last football themed party that I went to the host was handing out Football Beads as little prizes for people who won the little games that we all played. When Teri asked him where he got them, he told her that he found a great Party Supply store called toomeys-mardigras.com online that sells party goods at great prices.

Shout out
Filed under: Entertainment and Fun, Friends and/or Family; No CommentsMy newphew has started his own blog a couple of weeks ago. The intent of his blog is to be a writing exercise, but also to review movies that he has seen. I’ve been reading his blog and find it interesting to learn of his opinions of the different movies. So, this is a shout out to Chris; keep on blogging!

Ever since I can remember, my grandfather advised all of his children and grandchildren that they should always some some of their investment money in gold. He would say that when the value of stocks goes up, then gold tends to remain stable, and when the value of stocks go down, the value of gold tends to go up.
Well, I never really kept track of that, but I have met several people who make their living selling rare coins, stamps, and rare metals. They have been in that business for a very long time, and they have told me that investing in gold is always a good idea. They directed me to learn more about it by going to the Internet site goldcoinsgain.com and read about how to put gold in an IRA. To be honest, I didn’t even know that you could have a gold IRA !
There is a lot of good information on that site, including which IRA gold is legal in the United States. In addition, the site talks about gold 401k accounts, and explains how you can rollover your 401k into 401k gold or IRA.
