I hate black flies, wasps, yellow jackets, horse flies, ticks, fleas, hornets, and mosquitoes.  I spend a fortune on insect killing sprays to get rid of as many of them as I can.  I don’t like how the mosquitoes come out during the twilight hours and cut short the outdoor fun.  I enjoy sitting outside in the cool of the evening and talking with Teri about our day, and our plans.  But the mosquitoes usually drive us inside fairly quickly.  They used to be simply annoying, but now that I’ve learned that they spread the West Nile Virus, I don’t want to risk getting sick from them.  I’d really love to buy one of those mosquito trap machines that attract the mosquitoes and keeps them from getting to you.  That would make life in our yard much more enjoyable, and extend the amount of time we spend outside together.

Every years I hear of wild fires in California destroying thousands of acres of woods, and hundreds of homes. Today I was hearing of another wild fire that is destroying many homes. I heard that over 30,000 people had to be evacuated because they were in danger! What a terrible tragedy! I used to have nightmares about my house being on fire; I can only imagine the distress that the people are in where it is really happening! And, I’m really glad we don’t live in an area prone to wild fires!
