I’ve been hearing a lot of my friends and relatives talking about going camping on their vacations. If I were to go camping, I would prefer to use an RV or rent a cabin instead of staying in a tent. I’ve never enjoyed sleeping in a tent and having to use an outhouse or other similar shared facility. If I were to go on a camping vacation, however, I think that I would go to a local historical area so that I could see and do things above and beyond simply sleeping in a campground setting.
I’d go someplace like Gettysburg and check out what kinds of Civil War History I could learn about while there. I’ll bet there are a few different gettysburg camping areas that would be worth a try. Googling keywords such as rv camping gettysburg and pa rv camping have led me to learn about a nice sounding area called Battlefield Resort that accommodates not just RVs and tents, but also rents out cabins. I think I’d much prefer a cabin unless I could borrow my uncle’s RV! I’ll have to give him a call and see if it’s available for me to borrow one week this summer.

There is a local ice cream parlor called Carosel that is set up in the middle of the parking lot of one of the local shopping centers. It is only open during the warmer months, and when it opens there are always crowds in line. Obviously the ice cream and milk shakes are really good, if they have that good a clientele! Well today I was driving by the place and got the urge for a good homemade thick pina colada milkshake, so I pulled in. The weather was really nice, and although the line was long it moved fast. I ordered my shake and got it really quickly. I sat on a bench at one of the tables in the parking lot near the little water garden that they have installed and watched the other people and their children enjoy their ice creams and shakes. The milk shake was good, and I was glad I stopped. I’ll be going there again!
