My view on the world, as seen from whatever vehicle I'm in!

The strangest thing happened last night – I got up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water and my right foot felt weird – it felt like I was walking with a pebble in my shoe. But I was barefoot! I don’t know what in the world is causing that feeling. I felt around my foot and I can feel something inside my foot around the base of one of my toes. So, I’m going to have to give the doctor a call and order up some X-rays or MRIs and see what is there that shouldn’t be there, and find out what to do about it! That’s a scary thing, having something inside me that doesn’t belong there! I hope it’s just a benign thing like a bone spur!

With the economy as bad as it is right now, there is a lot of concern about how the real estate market is going to improve.  So many people are losing their homes because they’ve lost their jobs, or had other bad things happen in their lives which has made it impossible for them to continue to paying their mortgage. So there is a real glut of houses on the market right now.

Teri bought a book for me yesterday called Profit from Real Esate Right Now by Dean Graziosi. The book is written by a guy who has made a lot of money in real estate, and has his own television show.  He contends that this is a really good time to profit from the real estate market, even in this bad economy. I’ve seen him on television a few times, and have thought that we he says make sense, so I will be reading the book with much interest.

Several years ago the “big hype” was about how people who are concerned about their health should eat bagels for breakfast. Somehow bagels were considered to be “good for you.” The only way I could ever enjoy eating a bagel was if it was loaded up with cream cheese. I have to admit that the fat free cream cheese on the market is very tasty, so that health issue of too much fat in cream cheese is a moot point in this post. Fat free cream cheese on a bagel tastes pretty good. But I have noticed that it is very hard to get a nice soft bagel – most of them are about as hard as a rock! And to be honest, I really don’t enjoy eating rocks! And I’ve noticed that every time I eat a bagel, when I go look at myself in a mirror and smile there is a ton of bagel and cream cheese smiling back at me, stuck between my teeth! Not a pretty sight!

I much prefer eating muffins – they are softer and easier to eat and require no cream cheese. And muffins do not get stuck between my teeth! So if the choice is between a bagel or a muffin, give me a muffin! Unless, of course it is a crummy bran muffin that tastes terrible. I like lemon poppy seed muffins, or cranberry orange muffins the best!

I can’t help but notice that there are a lot of people who jog.  Every time I go out somewhere, and I’m driving along, I pass someone who is jogging.  I can’t even begin to imagine the damage that they are doing to their bodies; I consider jogging to be a high impact exercise.  Shin splints are just the beginning!  For me, even walking for a long time will give me shin splints, even if I’m not power walking!

I understand that it is important to exercise, but when I exercise, I want it to be low-impact exercise.  I find doing things like running, skipping rope, doing jumping jacks, etc to actually be painful and jarring.  I have read articles in the past that have led me to believe that high-impact exercise does do physical damage to the various joints in the body.

So I would be much more interested in the low-impact exercise like yoga or the type that is only achieved by exercising in water.  Doing Aquatic therapy types of exercise in Hydrotherapy pools comes to mind when I think of that kind of activity.  I’d like to look into putting an addition onto the house and buying a Swim spa to install in the addition.  Off to the side of the pool I’d probably like to put in a few low-impact exercise machines, and maybe a small sauna as well.

I imagine if we did that, we’d have a lot more company coming over to visit us and use the spa and the sauna!

I noticed on the Time.com website today a featured comment in the “quote of the day” that a playwright named Hubsi Kramar was talking about a play he had written that is a comedy based on the real life story of the Hungarian man who kidnapped and raped his daughter. When I saw that brief comment and attached explanation I was really shocked! I was shocked because I just can’t see how in the world anyone can see humor in that situation! Normally I am a person who can see humor in almost any situation, but kidnapping and rape?  C’mon now! Can someone explain that to me please?
