While I was talking to my uncle last weekend (as mentioned in my previous post) he told me that he got one of the new Bushnell Rifle Scopes that he had pointed out to my father that he had picked out from the opticsplanet.net website.  He was thrilled to get it, and told me that he can’t wait until the next time he goes hunting to give it a try!

I called my uncle this weekend to wish him a happy birthday. He just turned 50! I chatted with him for a while and asked him how his family was doing. He mentioned that my aunt has been trying to find a new job because she has been laid off and that she is having trouble finding a new one. It seems that she applies to every job she can find and that most of them tell her that she is overqualified for the position. I hope she can find a new job soon!

My brother told me that he has been struggling to get loans ever since he lost his job last year.  He missed a couple of mortgage payments, and that ruined his credit.  He asked me for advice on credit repair.  I told him to start out by ordering his credit report and checking to see if there were any mistakes on it that could be having a bad effect on his credit. 

Then I told him to do some research on the Internet about how to fix credit problems.  I told him that I know for sure that one of the most important ways to repair credit is to make all future payments on time! 

Another thing that I suggested was that if he could not get a credit card approved that he might consider going to the bank and taking out a secured loan with the bank – one where he gives them $500 in advance for them to hold as security, and then he takes a loan for $500.  When the payments are finished, he gets the security back and the records show that he paid the loan, which would be good for his credit rating.
