It was on all the morning news when I got up this morning, about how the jet plane crash/splash/glide landed in the Hudson River yesterday afternoon.  It truly is a miracle that all 155 people on board were rescued!  The news stories kept on talking about how heroic the pilot was in his safe landing (yes he was) and also how heroic the pilot was in getting everyone safely off the plane.  (Well, all right, the Larry King Live show was also giving credit to the flight attendants.)  And that is partially a point I want to make.  The pilot was amazing, and the flight crew also was amazing.  We should give a huge round of applause to ALL of them!  We can only hope and pray that if anything that horrible happens to a plane in the future that the results are just as happy!  Kudos to all of you!

In anticipation of going on a cruise that will require us to bring formal wear, we’ve started searching for formalwear on the Internet.  We’re trying to determine whether to buy, and what to buy.  We’ve been looking at the great selection of formal wear for both men and women on the aftersix.com website.  After reading some advice on their site I am thinking that I will probably rent a tuxedo instead of buying one.  Although many people don’t realize this, styles in tuxedos DO change and there is no guarantee that I’d wear it again!  On the other side, it does not seem very common for women to be able to rent formal wear!  Hmmm….. maybe that is a business opportunity someone should take advantage of!

Teri and I are considering going on a cruise vacation. We’ve been looking at different cruise lines, and what they have to offer. One of the things we’ve been thinking about in relation to that is whether we want to go on a cruise that will require us to bring formal wear for a formal dinner. On the one hand, sometimes dressing up is fun. On the other hand, we don’t currently have any formal wear that fits, so we’d have to get some, and do we really want to get any? I mean really, just how often will we need to wear formal wear in our lives, and how “stylish” will it be when we DO have to wear it again, and will it even FIT us then?
