Single people around here have a hard time meeting other single people that are interested in doing things socially. I think that has to do with the fact that so many people here focus so much of their time and energy on their work that they just don’t feel that they have time for a social life to begin with! Many people here have the “live to work” attitude, and not the “work to live” attitude. Personally I have the “work to live” attitude and try to balance pleasure with business, but it is hard to find other like minded people. I think part of that has to do with the lengthy commute so many people have to endure in order to get to work!

I’m really glad that Teri and I have a good life together; I don’t think I’d like to be single around here and in need of a date! But if I WERE in that situation, I’d look into the Great Expectations club. That is a social club that has actual buildings for people to participate in group activities such as dances and dinners, so that provides a measure of safety and personal security to those that are a little timid about things like blind dates. They have chapters in a lot of cities, such as Atlanta GA, Richmond VA, and Clearwater FL. It’s easy to find the chapters, you can “google” it like Great Expectations – Clearwater, FLwhere you substitute the name of your city where the words “Clearwater FL” are, or you can go to their website at greatexpectations4singles.com and use their wizard to search the cities.

I’ve been watching a lot of commercials lately about a product that is being marketed heavily as a blanket with sleeves. This commercial really gets my goat! The commercial shows a family sitting on bleachers at some kind of sports event, showing them wearing these things. Well, what gets my goat is that it is obvious that it only warms the front of them, if they are sitting on bleachers, what is keeping their backs warm, and why don’t they just wear coats, hats, and gloves like normal people? If and when I would go to a game if I used a blanket to help keep warm, I would wrap it around my back and criss-cross it around the front of me (and my date) to help keep us both warm. Makes a lot more sense, to wrap the back and front, don’t you think?  I hope no one buys one of these for me as a gift, I don’t see that it has any more practicality than a bathrobe and is less versatile than a blanket.
