We are planning a surprise ”over the hill” birthday party for one of my co-workers. He’s turning 50 in a couple of months and we want to surprise him with a great party. We’ve already got his wife in on the scheme to take him to a local restaurant for his birthday dinner. We’ve reserved a private banquet room from the restaurant for the party.
We got some great 50th birthday party ideas from the celebrations.com website. That is a great source for creative ideas and recipes for a wide variety of parties. We’ve decided that we’re going to hold a 70’s themed party for him!
We’ve got a party dj lined up to play 70’s music, and he’s providing a disco ball with strobe lights to hang over the dance floor. We’re going to decorate with 70’s type psychedelic posters, use a black light and bring in a few of those lava lamps that they are selling nowadays (but were popular in the 60s and 70s!) Everyone is going to be encouraged to wear tie died shirts and jeans.
On one end of the room we’re going to try to find some 1970’s themed movies to be playing on a wide screen television. (suggestions welcome!) We’re going to serve fondue and Swedish meatballs and cherries jubilee. It should be a real groovy scene!

Cleaning out my old emails
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, General Life;No CommentsThis morning I decided to clean out my old emails from my inbox. What a time consuming chore that is! Some old emails I just immediately delete and wonder why I didn’t just delete them before, but some I know I had saved for a reason so I pour through them and read them again and then either delete them or move them to another folder. I find myself surprised at how many old emails I have that I never read in the first place! And I saw that my email filter had moved over 3,000 messages straight into the spam folder! Well I don’t have time to review them all, so after glancing at the”from” names on the first two hundred I decided to just delete them all and hope that no “important” emails accidentally went into my spam folder! Well, it’s good to clean that out. I guess a good New Year’s resolution would be to keep it cleaned out and not let it get so full in the first place.
