I am always hearing or reading about people or businesses that encounter some kind of disaster and have no insurance coverage to help bail them out of the financial mess that comes from such disaster.  Just last week I was reading a local newspaper about a local family whose house burned down Christmas Eve, and had no insurance.  It seems that I read a story like that every Christmas season!  And of course the community tries to rally around and get donations to help the people, but it is never really enough to help as much as the family needs to recover from the fire.

And then of course there are people who start businesses and think that there is no reason to get any kind of insurance, and then end up being sued and losing their homes.  Always a very sad story.  I find those stories a little bit more irritating, though, because I think that businesses should be savvy enough to get some kind of insurance coverage to cover their potential losses if something bad did happen!  There are so many different kinds of insurance out there, that I find it hard to accept the excuse that there isn’t the right kind for the business!  There really is a huge variety of insurance out there, from tool insurance, HGV insurance, courier insurance, and general umbrella liability.  Anyone who is thinking about running a business needs to get good insurance!  If you are thinking about getting insurance, and live or work in the UK, check out the different kinds available from the autonetinsurance.co.uk.  It will get you pointed in the right direction!

I just glanced out of the window a few minutes ago and noticed Teri was sunbathing in her bikini on the deck.  It’s only 54 degrees outside!  Is she nuts?  I had to go outside and ask her what in the world does she think she is doing?  Well, I have to admit that the way the house wraps around part of the deck, and the way the sun is beating on the deck, that the temperature out there was a balmy 74 degrees!  Maybe she’s not so nuts, out there enjoying such a nice day!  I think I’ll be joining her in a few minutes!  I’m not going to be in my bathing trunks, though!  But I think I will grab a book, or the Sunday paper and join her and enjoy the nice weather while it’s there!

I have a few obese friends that have been trying for many years to lose weight.  Losing weight is not easy for most people.  Most of my life I never had to worry about my weight because I was one of those tall skinny kids that could hide behind a lamp post and not be found during a game of hide and seek!  But I do know a lot of people who have different body types and different metabolisms and just cannot seem to lose weight.  Teri’s sister, for example, has never been one to eat too much food, or the wrong kinds of food, but her metabolism changed after she had a few children, and she can’t seem to lose weight no matter how much she exercises or how little she eats.  I can even remember hearing her complain to Teri that after two months at the gym she weighed even more and was larger than before she started!  When she complained to the folks who ran the gym the explained to her that muscle weighs more than fat and that she was getting fit.  Her reply?  The heck with getting fit, I want to slim down!

So she has been thinking about using liposuction to remove some of her unwanted fat.  She’s been looking at the mya.co.uk website to try and learn more about it before taking the “big step.”  The MYA clinic offers a wide variety of cosmetic procedures for both men and women and employ some of the most skilled practitioners in the world.  And, they provide free consultation, which is a big plus!

About an hour ago I posted that I was looking for something yummy to snack on, and yet fighting the urge.  Well, now I’m hungry (really) and gave into the siren call of the Chex Party Mix that has been sitting on the kitchen counter, unopened, for the past two weeks.  I have to give myself credit for not opening it sooner!  I don’t eat Chex Party Mix very often - it is so very salty, and I try to watch my salt intake.  I love it, though, and it is hard to resist.

I used to make big batches of it from the recipe and eat tons of it, but have converted to only buying a bag or two a couple of times a year.  I know that the bags are more expensive, but it helps to keep my salt intake under better control.  It’s hard to eat only a little bit of it when you make a whole batch yourself!  I hope I don’t eat the whole bag in one snacking session!
