We’ve been trying to decide how to furnish one of the guest rooms that we have in our house. For a long time we were using the room simply as storage, which was handy enough, but mostly due to laziness as we could just as easily stored most of that stuff in the basement, or got rid of it in some way - like donating it to charity or posting it on freecycle. Anyway, one of our New Year’s resolutions is to whip that room into shape and create a genuine guest room.
We want to create one that would be welcoming to kids or adults alike, so we’ve been taking a look at a website that specializes in Kids Bedroom furniture to see what we can come up with. We’ve been browsing around the site, and I was surprised to see a Kids Desk on their site that looked remarkably like the desk that I had as a kid! What a laugh, and great memories that brought back to me, to see that there!
I was quite impressed with the large selection of Wooden Childrens Furniture that they have on their website, but I was really interested in the bunk bed combinations that they have where a double bed is on the bottom and a twin bed is on the top. I think that is a really great way to maximize the space in the bedroom, and make it comfortable for both kids and adults.

I was reading today that the Mars rover mission has been going on for five whole years! It really just does not seem that long to me! The article I was reading was on the BBC.com website, and it was explaining that the original Mars rover mission was expected to last only a few short months, but due to unexpected good fortune the machines have been able to continue to work for five whole years, sending a huge amount of information to Earth about Mars. I think that is incredible! I hope they continue to run for many more years, it would be really great to learn as much about Mars as we can!

Solid State technology
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Education, Entertainment and Fun, General Life, Shopping, Technology; No CommentsI found a video clip on the msnbc.msn.com website that showed an excerpt from a recent Today Show episode. Al Roker was discussing with his guest how technology is advancing - moving away from moving parts and towards solid state technology. This was in reference to devices such as IPODs, digital cameras, and laptop computers. I found it interesting because I really had not paid much attention to HOW these things were happening. I have a few of those devices, and just in that couple of minutes I learned a lot about now it was possible for them to be smaller, lighter, and more durable than the older models. So I feel enlightened now; it seems that solid state technology is ONE of the waves of the future!

I love reading wacky and weird news stories. I find them fascinating. So I was pleased to stumble upon the msnbc.msn.com website today where they had a link to the top 20 weirdest news stories of the year. I’ve been reading the stories and having quite a chuckle over some of them - like the news story of the man who went to visit a brothel as a customer and found his own wife working there as an employee! Not surprisingly, the couple file for divorce shortly afterwards!
And then the crazy story about a woman who was glued to her boyfriends toilet for TWO years! Of course the boyfriend was charged with some kind of abuse. I just cannot even imagine being on the toilet for even an hour! What a crazy world we live in!
