Yes, Teri’s sister Cindy is expecting.  That means pregnant.  She is going to need a lot of maternity clothesto wear to work.  She is a receptionist in a busy office, and needs to look fashionable at all times.  So Teri and I are thinking about buying her several pieces of fashionable maternity clothes for Christmas.  There is a great website called kikisfashions.com that sells a lot of fashionable and trendy maternity clothes for only $9.99 a piece!  That is a bargain for any kind of clothes!  They offer free shipping on orders over $75, and are having a promotion right now with a coupon code called WINTER08 which will give a 15% discount on all orders placed before November 27.  So we will be ordering this weekend and using the discount codes to get the best deal on some really cute clothes for Cindy.

As I was sitting here reading my emails, and researching “stuff” on the Internet, I used the last facial tissue from the box beside the computer.  Realizing that it was the last one, I took the box and tore it down to put in the trash.  I was quite surprised to see that the brand of tissue we were using no longer has that little square “points” thing that we always cut out and give to our local school.  I don’t know WHAT the school actually does with all of the points, but I’ve noticed them on boxes of cereal, and tissues, and a lot of other products that we buy.  Anyway, I was disappointed to realize that this particular brand of tissues no longer supports that program.

As I went and got a new box of tissues and opened it, Teri saw me getting ready to throw away the cardboard insert that you tear out to access the tissues.  She called out “don’t throw that away!”  Startled, I paused in my tracks and said “why not?”  Her reply was “I use those for bookmarks!”  She showed me where to put the “bookmark” and now I know where to put those “bookmarks” in the future.  Sometimes I have to marvel at Teri’s inventiveness – I never would have thought to use those as bookmarks, but they are the most perfect bookmark you could ever want, and they are free!  And we are keeping more stuff out of the landfill, which is good for the environment!  Good job Teri!

As you may recall, Teri’s brother has been staying with us for several months now.  He’s been doing quite well in his recovery and has been thinking that maybe it’s time he developed a social life in the area.  I have been a little bit concerned about that because I thought that the recovery programs encouraged people to NOT start new relationships for at least six months after starting the program.  But maybe I was misinformed about that, I don’t know for sure.  Anyway, he has been after Teri and me to play the part of matchmakers and set him up with some of our single female friends.  To be perfectly honest, that makes me very uncomfortable, so I have suggested that he check out the Internet dating scene and try to find his own date through one of the dating matchmaker websites.

He didn’t know which one to use, so I told him to check out the website called primedatingsites.com. That website reviews and compares many of the leading dating sites, and that should help him to figure out which dating website would work best for him.  Once he reads the different reviews about the different sites, then he can click on a link that takes him directly to that site to register if he wants to use that site.

Yesterday afternoon Teri called me from her car, using her cell phone.  She was calling me, asking for my advice on whether or not it was safe for her to drive under a low-hanging cable that was spanning the road she was driving down.  She was afraid that it was so low that it might touch her car as she was driving under it and didn’t know what would happen if it did.  Well of course I told her to NOT drive under the wire, to back up the car until she could turn around and then take a detour to her destination.

The phone conversation brought to mind that most people don’t know which cable is the electric cable, the phone cable, and the cable television cable, and sometimes fire alarm and burglar alarm cables.  I used to work for a utility company’s construction department and I learned that the top cable is the electric cable, the one three feet below that is the telephone cable(s), below that is cable television, and below that is fire and/or burglar alarms.   And the cables that you see between poles that have a loop in them that look snowshoe shaped – those are fiber optic telephone cables!

Teri had told me that the cable across the road in her situation was the top cable, so I knew it was the electric cable.  Naturally no one should ever drive under ANY cable that they think is so low it might touch their car.  I just thought that anyone reading this post might like to learn a little bit of information about the placement of cables on the utility poles, just for their own information!  Maybe it will help someone in the future if they have to make a phone call, to know exactly WHAT cable is down!
