Buying a home in Austin Texas
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, General Life, Home and Garden, Real Estate, Shopping, Technology; No CommentsThere is a really innovative Austin Real Estate Company that services the technologically savvy home buyer that is looking to buy a new Home in Austin texas. The Homecity Company has a website at homecity.com that shows you slide shows, virtual tours, and aerial photographs for thousands of Austin homes. These homes include individual family homes, townhouses, lots, and condominiums. Regardless of the listing agent, all of this information is available on their website. This is a great service to the prospective buyer; it gives the buyer the chance to get a really good idea of what properties that they want to look at without feeling the pressure of a salesman breathing down their necks. Once the buyer knows what they want to look at, all they have to do is contact the company and they will help to match you up with the appropriate seller.

I’ve been interested to be seeing on news shows the breakdown of the demographics of what groups voted for Obama, and what groups voted for McCain. The news person keeps saying that although the “young” group voted in record numbers, that their vote really did not effect who won the election. The news person was giving most of the credit towards different ethnic groups – the minorities turned out in record numbers and most of the voted for Obama, and that is why Obama won the race. Yet I’ve heard nothing about breaking down how many of those ethnic groups that turned out were the “youth?”
I suspect that the “youth” vote had a lot more influence than what they are being given credit for. And I have to really wonder how accurate those demographics are since our votes are supposed to be kept secret, how do they really KNOW what age the voter was that cast what ballot? I think that is suspicious, indeed.

Credit cards in today’s economy
Filed under: Business and Office, Environment and/or Green, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Money, Shopping, Technology; No CommentsMore consumers are having difficulty paying their bills in today’s economy. Many people are losing their jobs, and then they lose their homes. It’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, although the price of gas seems to be coming down for the moment. I suspect, however, that the only reason that the price of gas is coming down is because the oil companies are afraid that the United States really IS going to pursue alternative energy sources and then the oil companies will not be able to hold the US hostage with their threats of witholding oil from us!
Because of the worsening economy, the credit card industry is changing too. Many credit card companies are cancelling their customer’s accounts even though the customer has never had a late payment with that company. Some are lowering their customer’s credit card credit balance; they don’t want to lose the customer but are afraid that the customer might run up the balance on the credit card and then not be able to pay.
One such example of that has hit my own family – my sister sent me an email this morning telling me that her Providian Credit Card company just sent her a notice that they are reducing her credit limit, even though she has never had a late payment with them! Although this is not going to cause her any hardship, she is annoyed that they have reduced her credit limit.

Damage control
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Education, General Life, Health, News, Politics, Technology; No CommentsI was reading an article on the msnbc.msn.com website titled “Obama positioned to reverse Bush actions” that was talking about a lot of different things that Obama can (and probably WILL) do to reverse a lot of the damage that George W Bush has done to our country. The article was talking about changing the policy on stem cell research, about sex education (including abortion options) and changing some environmental policies. I was happy to learn that Obama has had a group of lawyers working for months on researching what kinds of things he can work on quickly so he can get things done as soon as possible. I was really glad to see that they are working on this kind of progress!

Many people suffer from sleep apnea. Sleep apnea happens when someone stops breathing while they are asleep. When the body realizes that the breathing has stopped, the person is awakened suddenly by the body’s reaction, which is often a jerking motion. Sleep apnea has many causes. Whenever I have a cold I have noticed that while I am suffering from that cold I have sleep apnea-like spells where I stop breathing for a moment and my body jerks awake. Sleep apnea can be very serious; at a bare minimum it causes a person to suffer from sleep deprivation, which has a lot of health complications. One of the symptoms of sleep apnea is snoring. Snoring also becomes a problem and cause of sleep deprivation to the other household members who are trying to sleep but are kept awake by the snoring sounds of the person with sleep apnea.
Sometimes sleep apnea is a side effect of obesity, sometimes it is caused by other circumstances. In the case of obesity sometimes weight loss is all that is needed to resolve the sleep apnea and snoring problem.
I just learned from the midtowndentistry.com website that snoring issues can sometimes be resolved through the help of a dentist! They can provide an apparatus to wear at night (it looks and feels similar to a sports mouth guard) that will keep the airways open and reduce snoring and sleep apnea.
The Houston Texas snoring therapy experts to consult for this particular device are the good doctors Dr. Jonathan Penchas, Dr. Marilyn Ward, and Dr. Stephanie Scheyer from the Midtown Dentistry office in Houston. In addition to snoring therapy, their dental services include implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, veneers, bridges, dentures, whitening, restorations, and sedation dentistry.
