Great source of online coupons
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Shopping, Sports, Travel; No CommentsThe 1-coupons.com website is a great source for finding online coupons, promotions, and discounts. I was looking at their http://www.1-coupons.com/coupons/home-depot.htm page earlier to see what kind of great deals I could find from homedepot.com. Home Depot is my kind of store!
I just found a great deal on a personal organizer that I ordered and I arranged for monogramming, can hardly wait to have that delivered! I saw one just like it a couple of weeks ago when I was traveling; a co-worker that I was travelling with was showing it off, told me it cost him $40 and I got it for a lot less!
I was also looking at a pair of in-line skates that I was thinking about buying. My old pair is getting pretty worn out and I’ve been thinking about delegating them to be my “outdoor” pair of skates and get a new pair of “indoor” skates for the roller rink. It’s not a good idea to use the same pair for indoor AND outdoor skating, so I really should have two pairs of skates.
And I found some airport-safe steel free shoes through their site, too! That would be a great investment for me to make since I use airports so much in my business! It sure would cut down on the hassle of going through security, knowing that my shoes won’t trigger their metal detectors!

FEMA and CDC blew it
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Education, Environment and/or Green, General Life, Health, News;No CommentsI was just reading an article on the propublica.org website that I just found through a link on the Sierra Club’s website (don’t you just love finding cools sites that way – I sure do!) about how the CDC and FEMA really blew it in regards to the FEMA trailers that had too much formaldehyde in them. You know which ones I’m talking about, right? The Katrina trailers! It seems that the CDC was saying that they were safe to be in because of a fundamental flaw (mathematical error) in computing how much formaldehyde was too much.
Anyway, I suspect that there is going to a log of major health problems coming along from these poor folks who have living in these toxic trailers, and I suspect that they will (if they haven’t already) pull together a huge class action lawsuit to help defray their medical expenses – they are going to need help to pay those bills!

The International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons screens hair transplant surgeons and offers only the best and most ethical hair transplant surgeons membership in their organization. The organization is a consumer organization that only offers membership to the best in the field. The organization is the only consumer organization that is recommended and recognized by The American Hair Loss Association. Their website reads like a blog, with articles that the reader can comment upon.
The articles are, naturally, about hair loss and treatments for hair loss. The articles are written by members of the IAHRS. I was looking at the blog a few minutes ago and found some interesting questions being answered – one about whether or not women can have hair transplants, and another one about whether or not African Americans can have hair transplants.

Running water all day long?
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Education, Environment and/or Green, Food, General Life, Health, News, Shopping, Technology; No CommentsI was reading an article on the BBC website about how the Starbucks coffee chain leaves their cold water tap running all day long. They claim that it is a matter of hygiene, that it helps to keep their utensils clean and that they do it for safety reason. They say that it has something to do with a “dipper well” that they have. I’ve never heard of a “dipper well” so I don’t think I can be a good “judge” regarding that. But it does seem to me that running water all day long would be a waste of electricity and water, and that a more economical and environmental solution could be found. I’ll be curious to see if I hear or read any more on this subject in the future.
