I was hearing that the Gallery Collection greeting card company is donating 1,000 Holiday cards this year to the Texas Children’s Hospital to be given out to the children during the holiday season. The cards will be put on each patient’s tray table during the holidays. I don’t know about you, but whenever I am visiting someone in the hospital, little things like that can really make a big difference to the attitude of the patient! I think that is a wonderful thing to do.  It’s never a pleasant time to have to be in the hospital, and having to be in the hospital during the holidays would be an especially depressing and difficult time to be there; away from family and friends.  Having a small token of Holiday warmth like a personalized card put on the tray is a really nice touch, helping to ease the anxiety a patient would feel being in the hospital during that difficult time.

Our office is planning to buy some customized Business Holiday Cards over the Internet from the Gallery Collection’s website. They have a really great selection of rich looking quality greeting cards that look very luxurious. I see that they are currently offering a 40% discount and $75 off each order placed by October 1! That’s a great deal! We think that sending out nice looking cards makes a better impression on our customers that we really care about them and their business.

I found a story on the BBC’s website that linked to a video showing an airbag vest made in Japan that is designed to be worn by elderly people who have a tendency to fall backwards and hurt themselves. I was watching the video, and I’m not quite sure if I’m impressed or amused by it. It is a normal looking vest that deploys airbags when the person starts to fall backwards, so that when the person hits the ground they are cushioned by the airbags.

I really don’t know how many times elderly people fall backwards versus sideways or forwards, so I’m really not sure exactly how beneficial this would be to someone. But it is very interesting that a company is developing it, and I have to give them credit that they are trying to help elderly people from getting hurt when they fall down. I know that falling down is a major reason why elderly people break a hip, and it is really hard for them to heal from something like that.
