This morning we were awakened by a phone call from one of our neighbors.  It seems that last night someone vandalised our neighborhood.  They spray-painted vulgarities on the exterior walls of several neighbors houses, slashed tires on cars, and stole mailboxes.  They dumped some kind of poison in the decorative fish pond in one of our neighbor’s yard - all of the fish were found floating this morning.  The entire neighborhood is in an uproar.

Fortunately for us the vandals skipped our place.  I have to assume it is because we have motion-detecting security lighting around the house, and because we put our cars in our garage.  I feel bad for our neighbors, but am happy that we don’t have to deal with cleaning up our place and buying new tires! 

Anyway, now our neighbors are calling for a meeting to establish a neighborhood watch group.  I’ve been advocating for that ever since we moved here and the neighbors wanted nothing to do with it, but now that they’ve been “hit” they have had a change of heart.  So we will go to the meeting and see what’s up!
