Younger sister making plans for college
Filed under: Computers and/or Internet, Education, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Shopping, Software, Technology; No CommentsMy younger sister is entering her junior year in high school. The junior year is full of stress, and excitement, as this is the time that people get really serious about college. My sister wants to go to college, but has not yet decided which one she wants to go to. She would like to go to a college that gives her in-state tuition breaks, but would like to live on campus, to get the full college experience.
I’m sure glad that I don’t have that kind of stress in my life anymore! Fortunately the application process is getting easier due to the creation of websites like collegezapps.com. Prospective college students can Get help with the college application process from CollegeZapps.
This website is set up in such a way so that the student can go to the website and register. Once they’ve registered, they pick out what schools they would like to apply to. Then they fill out ONE application form that is standard with most colleges, and then the applications are sent out to all of the colleges. What is great about that is the student spends much less time doing the repetitive work of filling application after application and can focus on the important parts of the application process, like writing their essays.

Vandalism
Filed under: Friends and/or Family, General Life;No CommentsThis morning we were awakened by a phone call from one of our neighbors. It seems that last night someone vandalised our neighborhood. They spray-painted vulgarities on the exterior walls of several neighbors houses, slashed tires on cars, and stole mailboxes. They dumped some kind of poison in the decorative fish pond in one of our neighbor’s yard – all of the fish were found floating this morning. The entire neighborhood is in an uproar.
Fortunately for us the vandals skipped our place. I have to assume it is because we have motion-detecting security lighting around the house, and because we put our cars in our garage. I feel bad for our neighbors, but am happy that we don’t have to deal with cleaning up our place and buying new tires!
Anyway, now our neighbors are calling for a meeting to establish a neighborhood watch group. I’ve been advocating for that ever since we moved here and the neighbors wanted nothing to do with it, but now that they’ve been “hit” they have had a change of heart. So we will go to the meeting and see what’s up!
