Black Friday
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, General Life, Money, Shopping, Technology;Comments OffWhen I was a kid, I thought the term “Black Friday” was a gloomy term, supposed to be some kind of negative connotation with it. That’s reasonable isn’t it? The day after Thanksgiving, our holiday of giving thanks to be immediately followed by something gloomy? After all, Easter is a holiday that had a gloomy history behind it! Anyway, I didn’t realize as a kid that “Black Friday” is the busiest shopping day of the year, and that “Black Friday” is called that because that is when the retailers finally get their books “out of the red” and “into the black.” If they don’t have a REALLY good day on Black Friday, then their year is NOT a good one!
When I was first out on my own, I had the day after Thanksgiving off of work. Not realizing that everyone else in the world was going to go out Christmas shopping, I thought I’d take advantage of the extra day off of work and go Christmas shopping! Boy was I naive! I could not believe how crowded the parking lots and stores were! And the shoppers were frantic and rude, pushing and shoving and grabbing things out of my hands! I vowed to never go shopping on black friday again!
There is a website that enables people who want to take advantage of the Black Friday shopping specials from a lot of different online stores like HomeDepot.com by shopping online. That is the kind of Black Friday shopping I’ll be doing – in the comfort of my own home! This website provides the consumer with links to Black Friday specials that they can order without having to get in the car, find a parking spot, or stand in line! That’s my kind of Christmas shopping!

I’ve just spent the past couple of hours browsing a cool website that I found called livescience.com. It has a lot of cool stories about technology, health, nature, the environment, history, “strange news” and a few other categories. I’ve been clicking around on different stories, and found each one very interesting. I was just reading an article about a robot “named” “Gordon” that has a real biological brain that controls its movements. The brain is from a rat, so I have to wonder what the intentions of the movements are, but I find the entire concept of a brain kept alive in a robot to be very exciting! Is this the first step to people living forever? Could it be possible that a person whose body is too ill to survive could have their brain transplanted into a robot and continue to “live” through a robot? I can only imagine the huge controversy that this would create!

Discount furniture over the Internet
Filed under: Business and Office, Computers and/or Internet, Friends and/or Family, General Life, Money, Shopping, Technology;Comments OffTeri was showing me the discount furniture website that she found that sells Carolina furniture at deep discounts. They sell such brand names as Ashley Furniture, Pulaski, American Drew, Hooker Furniture, Universal Furniture, Hekman, Kathy Ireland Home, Pulaski, and Michael Amini Signature to name just a few. They ship anywhere in the US and Canada. I never realized until very recently that North Carolina was such a major manufacturer of furniture!
Teri found a really nice looking canopy bed made by Ashley Furniture from their Berringer Collection that they are selling at a really reasonable price. She wants to buy it for our master bedroom. I told her that I’d have to take a look at our budget and I’ll give her an answer by this weekend.

I was reading on the BBC.com website that Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is blaming the US for provoking the conflict in Russia, to benefit one of the presidential candidates. He backs up this claim by saying that there werw US citizens in the area that were following orders from their leaders. Say WHAT????? Sounds like they’ve got another nutcase in a position of power over there!
