My girlfriend Teri has been thinking about getting an online accounting degree.  She has been feeling a little bit insecure in her job lately, and I can’t say that I blame her.  It seems that companies are laying off a lot of their employees every time you around!  There are very few careers that have good job security, and accounting is one of them. 

Teri found a website called AccountingJobsToday.com that she has been using to gather information about the accounting career.  She said that the Accounting Jobs Today website is a job board, but it also has a lot of useful information that can help her to prepare and plan for her new career.  She said that she didn’t realize how many different types of accounting jobs there really are!  To be honest, I never thought about how many different types of accountants there could be, I always just thought an accountant was an accountant!  But on this website is a link to an Accounting Job Description Library that lists and defines over fifty different accounting job titles!  And almost each job title has subsets under them of more accounting jobs!  That’s a lot!  I can see why being an accountant could bring some pretty good job security!

Well today is 08-08-08.  The Olympics began at 08:08 am this morning.  I understand that the number eight is a lucky number in China.  I’ve always liked the number eight, I thought it was cool that when you put it on its side it represents infinity.  When I buy a lottery ticket I always make sure that one of the numbers that I pick has an eight in it.  Can’t be too lucky of a number, though, I haven’t won any money with it!
