My girlfriend just showed me a website about taking a vacation by going Lehigh River whitewater rafting with the Whitewater Challengers in Pennsylvania.  She has always wanted to try whitewater rafting; and I agree that it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.  We have friends who have gone on whitewater rafting trips and they come back with tales of adventure and fun that certainly make the whole idea enticing!  The Lehigh River is in the beautiful Poconos Mountains, in Pennsylvania.  I’ve only been to the Poconos a few times, and those few times were in the winter time, for skiing trips.  The Poconos is a great vacation destination if you enjoy outdoor sports!

Anyway, my girlfriend wants to book one of the whitewater trips.  It looks like they have several different options; one includes an overnight camping adventure.  I think that is what my girlfriend wants to do, but I’m not sure that I want to go camping.  I’ve never been much of one for sleeping in a tent - I love hotels!  Their website has a link to what they call an Adventure Quotient Quiz to help you decide which rafting trip is best for you.  I took the quiz and found that I would be best suited for their Lehigh River Easier Whitewater Trip.

I was listening to the news on television tonight while eating supper and heard a story about how scientists are all excited because they have been working on a special medication, experimenting with lab mice, that would help people lose weight without having to diet or exercise. I think that would be great because there are a lot of people out there that need to lose weight and won’t diet or exercise, for one reason or another.  I’m guessing that it speeds up the metabolism, but the side effects on people are untested and unknown at this point.  I’d love to be able to lose a few pounds without having to do anything but pop a pill!

I was reminded of that story just now because I saw a similar story about the same subject on The New York Times website.  I hope that they develop this soon, there are a lot of obese people out there that could use this kind of help to lose weight!

I’ve always been interested in star gazing, and was interested to learn that a robotic observatory has been set up on the highest point in Antarctica to observe and photograph the sky for almost a year. The observatory was shipped in insulated Shipping Containers in several different pieces and assembled on site. The Shipping Containers were supplied by an Australiancompany called Port Container Services. Port Container Services is a company that serves Australia’s shipping containers needs.  They supply new and/or used shipping containers for sale or rent.  They supply flat rack, open top, insulated, refrigerated, and high cube containers.  In this particular case they supplied special insulated containers that could withstand the extreme temperatures of the Antarctica temperatures.
