business 2.0

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

There is much to be said about business 2.0 - but I am just going to point out to my fellow bloggers that business 2.0 has seriously evolved lately. It amazes me how quick and easy it is to get a few people in a chat room and on web cam in an impromptu meeting. Business is definitely moving faster today than it was just 5 years ago.

I have found that using collaboration tools like google docs and skype, we have saved a ton of time and a bunch of money that would have been spent on traveling and xeroxing. I can’t wait to get holographic meetings like you see in star wars, supposedly this is kind of what second life is like - with 3d avatars instead of holographic images.

This social networking has really gone mainstream

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

I remember some of my techy-er friends talking about some of the social networking sites back in the day, about how they could keep up with friends and network quickly at the speed of broadband, but recently it seems that social networks have really become a tool of not just tech geeks, but many of my business associates and not just my friends, but their kids seem to be on mypsace, facebook, and even using social news sites like digg one a regular basis.

I have to admit this is one of those tech ideas that I though would never catch on with mainstream America, but it seems that it has taken over quickly as a must have communication tool. Very cool.

Congrats to Sarah - New tech Job

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

A big congratulations goes out to Sarah who has landed a new tech job! She’s one of the top level network administrators for a research company that has offices in more than a dozen companies. Sarah has really impresses me, I remember when she was talking about going to school to learn tech stuff, I had not thought she would go through with it.

But she has - she’ applied herself, done tons of homework and is continuing with school even though she has landed a top notch job already - good for you Sarah!

Heading to New Jersey

Friday, April 11th, 2008

One of my new accounts has their headquarters in new Jersey. I have only been there once, and it was only for a day, so I don’t know much about the state and what it is like, I always think of the Sapranos and new style accents when I think of Jersey, but from the phone conversations I’ve had with the tech department at this new company, it seems that the people are polite and everything.

I love to travel and enjoy hotels with a passion, if my digital camera wasn’t being borrowed by the girlfriend then I would certainly see if I could get enough time to get some pictures of places that have been featured in some of my favorite shows, but we’ll see, maybe I’ll get a new camera when I’m up there. I’ll be back in town in 6 days, and I’ll keep you posted.
