Webinars are my favorite way to learn

Friday, January 25th, 2008

I have used so many tools for learning, books, videos, classes, conferences, audio books, webinars, you name it. I must say that my favorite is webinars. I have enjoyed the convenience of online learning, but the webinars that I have joined seem to provide a slicker look and feel that is more conducive to learning for me.

Of course a lot of that has to do with the speaker(s) and the material as well, but all in all the webcam conferences seem to get more of my attention and keep a faster pace for learning, I look forward to more people and schools offering first rate webinars via webcam. Of course with some grueling video editing many of the online video courses could become faster paced and more my style.

I’ve also really enjoyed the classes that MIT is offering via their open courseware project.

I shouldn’t have waited to refinance

Friday, January 18th, 2008

I had thought about refinancing the beach house in November, interest rates were good and it’s something that I thought about every month when making that mortgage payment. Of course the holidays were coming and I wanted to spend some extra money on the family, so I held off at the time. Now interest rates seem to be fluctuating quite a bit, and I am not sure if I should refinance now, or wait another month.

Of course waiting longer could mean that the ARM will go sky high, but it doesn’t seem like the economy is going to fall apart any time soon. I am putting money aside for the closing costs and lawyer fees, so if I decide to refi I will be prepared.

Of course I am kicking myself in the arse for not refinancing in November when I had the gut feeling to do so.

Back at home

Friday, January 11th, 2008

I’ve made it back, I’m glad to be home, although I miss the hotel, I am not a huge fan of Pittsburgh. The hotel was great, I love having fresh towels delivered everyday. We had a layover in Atlanta, which is a great city to spend a few days in, but spending hours in the airport is not my favorite. It was a beautiful view of the Georgia real estate flying in though.

I had to wonder how much the property is in the area, it’s truly beautiful from the sky, I can’t imagine the house payments are all that much compared to cities like San Fransisco.

It’s on

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

It’s on like donkey kong, the guys and me are on the way for one of the best games of the year. We are headed out of town and traveling to pittsburg, I am looking forward to not cleaning, having a maid and room service and a great hotel to enjoy the week in.

Yeah, the game will be good for sure, but more than anything I am looking forward to traveling, getting away from home for a while!
